About the Dean

Dr. Donde Plowman is the James, Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business Administration. With her arrival in the summer of 2010, also came the news that UNL would join the Big Ten Conference. She had one year to prepare the college to be competitive with the elite business schools of the Big Ten.

Dean Plowman went to work and quickly initiated improvements that have positioned CBA for success. They include:

  • Hiring 25 new faculty to better serve students and increase the enrollment capacity to meet UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman’s five-year plan.
  • Adding a new communications and marketing focus to increase student enrollment and engage alumni, businesses and friends. Last fall, freshmen enrollment was up 25.4 percent and transfer enrollment 15.8 percent.
  • Creating a new Supply Chain Management major that provides a much needed career track that will make our business students extremely valued in the work force.
  • Creating a new Business Minor for non-business majors to emphasize the importance of a business education for any UNL student who may one day work in a business setting.
  • Creating the Career Services at CBA office – and hiring four career coaches – to help business students create a resume, find internships, prepare for interviews and partner with businesses.

And perhaps her greatest accomplishment...

  • Having the vision for a new CBA building, which is now being designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects of New York and Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture of Nebraska -- and construction should be completed in 2017.

Dean Plowman has made the UNL College of Business Administration the place to Start Something!
