Prospective Students


Students are admitted only for the fall semester for the MABA program. To be considered for fellowship funding, the application deadline is March 15. The final application deadline is May 15. Selected applicants will be invited for an admissions interview, which will take place in April and May.

  1. Bachelor’s degree, 3.0 GPA recommended
    1. Official transcripts are required for admission.
  2. GMAT or GRE score
    1. A GMAT score of 550 is highly recommended. Alternatively, a comparable GRE score will be considered. Scores must be from the last five years.
    2. If you choose to take the GMAT, please have your results forwarded to UNL (school code S40-HW-48). Once you take the exam, enter your unofficial scores into GAMES. GMAT scores more than five years old will not be accepted. Please visit the official GMAT website for more information and to register for the test.
    3. If you choose to take the GRE, please have your results forwarded to UNL (school code 6877). Once you take the exam, enter your unofficial scores into GAMES. GRE scores more than five years old will not be accepted. A comparison tool is available to see how your GRE scores compare to our recommended 600 GMAT. Please visit the official GRE website for more information and to register for the test.
  3. Three reference names and contact information
    1. Three individual reference names are required when applying. All three contacts must be former or current supervisors or professors. The references will be contacted only if the committee deems it necessary. No recommendation letters are needed.
  4. Personal Statement
    1. All applicants are required to submit a personal statement through GAMES. The statement is evaluated on content, sentence structure and grammar. The word limit is 750 words or less. It should include the following:
      1. Briefly describe your past professional experience and relevant skills.
      2. What would you contribute to our MABA program?
      3. What are some of your short and long term professional goals?
      4. How would a University of Nebraska–Lincoln MABA assist you in achieving your goals?
  5. Professional Resume
    1. A professional resume should be submitted through GAMES. Please include the following: relevant work experience, skills and involvement and education.
  6. TOEFL exam (required for international students)
    1. TOEFL (link to: score (minimum score of 550 written, 213 computer based or 80 iBT)
    2. Alternatively, international students may submit IELTS scores. A score of 6.5 is required.

International Applicant Requirement

International applicants must score at least 550 (213 computer-based) or 80 iBT on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of 6.5 is required on the IELTS English proficiency test.

*Course materials such as textbooks, cases studies, and coursepacks, are required for each course. We anticipate that the average cost for course materials will be $150.00 per course.

Financial Aid

Graduate Assistantships for On-Campus Students Only

A few graduate assistantships are available to MABA students each year.

  • Tuition remission of up to 12 credit hours per semester is provided for eligible assistantships during the semester of appointment.
  • Typically require 13 – 20 hours of work per week.
  • Some assistantships may also be available in the summer.
  • Positions are usually filled in the spring semester for the following academic year.

Fellowships are awarded based on academic merit to help offset the costs of obtaining a graduate education.

  • Available to both newly admitted MABA students, as well as current degree-seeking MABA students.
  • Awarded to full-time students. At the graduate level, enrollment in nine credit hours is considered full-time.
  • Automatically awarded to the top MABA students based on academic record, including GMAT scores and GPA. Therefore, students do not need to complete a fellowship application to be considered.
  • Awarded beginning in April. In order to be considered, new students should submit their admissions application and materials by the March 15 funding deadline.
