Graduate Scholarships and Financial Aid
Examination Award Program - The award program is for actuarial science majors who are successful on the examinations given by the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society. Details available from the Actuarial Science program office in CBA 210 (see contact information below).
Grants are based primarily on potential to succeed in Actuarial Science and secondary on financial need. The number of grants awarded and the amount of each grant is dependent upon the amount of contributions available for distribution. The allocation of these funds is determined by a subcommittee of the Committee for the Chair of Actuarial Science of the Nebraska Actuaries Club, in conjunction with the Actuarial Science Program faculty. Recipients may re-apply for the grant for one additional year. Applications are available in the CBA Undergraduate Advising Office, 138 CBA, 472-2310 or on their website http://www.cba.unl.edu/current/scholarships/. Deadline to apply is March 1.
Part-time and summer jobs - Many students obtain actuarial employment on a part-time basis during the school year with local insurance companies, or full-time during the summer with actuarial employers from around the United States. These positions not only provide needed income for the student, but they also provide valuable on-the-job experience.
