The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) is the flagship institution of the University of Nebraska
system, and the primary research and doctoral degree-granting institution in Nebraska. UNL is
recognized by the Carnegie Foundation as a Doctoral/Research Extensive university. The UNL's College
of Business Administration is one of the top 40 business schools within public universities (top 60
of all AACSB accredited business colleges). We offer B.A. with concentration in MIS, M.A. in MIS,
MBA with specialization in MIS, and MIS Ph.D. program. The MIS faculty members are part of the
Management Department.
World Class Faculty Members
We have outstanding MIS faculty members working on organizational, behavioral, as well as design
science research. The faculty members are well published and are known nationally and internationally
for their accomplishments. Our MIS faculty members serve on editorial boards of major IS journals as
well as on the organizing committees of major IS conferences.
State of the Art Curriculum and Research
Our current IS and IS-related faculty members emphasize the following research and teaching
agenda -- conceptual foundation of MIS, information systems analysis and design, design science,
electronic business/mobile/ubiquitous commerce, virtual world, knowledge sharing and management,
enterprise integration, business intelligence, and global/strategic IT management. We have
a comprehensive set of courses for our MIS students and are constantly enhancing and updating
our curriculum.
High Quality Students
Our MIS program currently attracts high quality students from Nebraska, other states
and foreign countries. We also have a high percentage of international students
in our MIS programs. This provides an excellent opportunity for the students to
understand and appreciate the use of IT in different countries and allows for cross-fertilization
of ideas.
Advanced Computing Facility and Close Collaboration with Industry
We have advanced and state-of-the-art computing facility in CBA, and we have close
collaboration with many IT companies such as IBM and Microsoft. The
UNL-IBM Global Innovation Hub has more than 2 million dollars worth of hardware
and software license contracts with top software companies.
