As the AACSB accreditation team pointed out, our students need the basic IS education as part of their curriculum. Management 350, which is Introduction to MIS, is a required course for all CBA students. See the requirements diagram.
We propose a new set of courses and their structure for our students who wish to have an undergraduate MIS concentration as shown in the course listing and the course structure diagram. After completing these courses, our students will be prepared to compete well into the future.
Currently, the fastest growing graduate program in business is MBA or MA with concentration in MIS. We propose a new set of courses for our graduate MIS concentration as shown in the course listing and the graduate course structure diagram. Students need to satisfy the CBA business prerequisites before taking graduate classes. After completing these courses, our students will be well prepared for their careers.
Our MIS programs are highly demanded by IT industry. We are expanding our reach into the regional as well as international IS markets. Local industries and businesses can continuously obtain the highest quality of training from the university.
As the flagship institution of the University of Nebraska system and a Carnegie Research I institution, we emphasize the importance of relevant and high-quality research in MIS. We have one of the largest PhD programs among U.S. institutions. The college and the faculty have made a major commitment to doctoral education. We have a comprehensive set of courses for our PhD students and are constantly enhancing and refining our curriculum. We have outstanding MIS faculty members working on organizational, behavioral, as well as technical MIS research. The faculty members are well published and are known nationally and internationally for their accomplishments. Our MIS faculty members sit on editorial boards of major IS journals as well as serve on the organizing committees of major IS conferences.
