Graduate Studies
The Management Department at Nebraska is committed to excellence. In order to ensure the success of each admitted student, faculty members will carefully review each component of your application material when you apply for admission to the M.A., M.B.A., or Ph.D. program in Management. We will take into account a number of factors including your undergraduate and graduate transcripts, work experience, Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score, and letters of recommendation from academic references or employers. While test scores and transcripts give quantitative information about you as an applicant, your letters of recommendation and work experience help us develop a better picture of your strengths and attributes. All of your application materials will be carefully assessed.
To apply for admission to a graduate program in Management, your completed application materials must be received by May 15 for admission in the fall semester; October 15 for admission in the spring semester; and February 15 for admission in the summer; however, if you are interested in receiving financial aid, your completed application materials must be received by February 15 for fall, spring, or summer admission.
If you are an international student, it is recommended that you begin your application process at least a year prior to the date you would like to be admitted. You must also be aware of the additional requirements that you need to meet in order to be admitted to the College of Business Administration. These include:
Additional qualifications may be required, particularly for prospective teaching assistants. International applicants are encouraged to establish English proficiency before applying.
An important part of your graduate education in the College of Business Administration is professional development. The Management faculty will help you realize your career aspirations through opportunities to conduct research in your area of interest, contact with management experts inside and outside the University system, and publication experience.
Professional development opportunities also include seminars featuring visiting executives and scholars. In the past few years, the Visiting Executive Program has brought to campus experts such as Warren Buffett, Chair, Berkshire Hathaway; Robert Berra, Senior Vice President, Monsanto Company; California financier David Murdock; Rueben Jensen, General Motors Executive Vice President; Clayton Yeutter, former U.S. Trade Minister.
