These courses are defined on about page 17 of the Bulletin. They can only
be taken on campus at UNL. Transfer students are allowed to reduce the number of
hours that are required. The chart showing this reduction is found immediately after
the IS description on about page 19 in the Undergraduate Bulletin. IS courses
can be business or non-business courses. If students plan carefully they should
be able to take all of their IS courses while fulfilling other requirements.
IS - Advising Tip
Double counts - COMM 311, MNGT 350, MNGT 475 - These are required courses that will
help to complete this requirement if taken on campus. There are other required courses
in some majors that will also count.

Taken in Modules 1 & 2 these courses are grouped in areas A - H. They are designed
to provide students with both a breadth and depth in human endeavor. There are approximately
42 hours of ES courses in the BSBA curriculum. No CBA courses can be taken here
and the P/NP option can't be used.
ES -Advising Tip
Students are able to use these courses towards minors outside the college and towards
areas of emphasis. Students must remember that they can only use approved ES courses
in this manner. The ES Advising Tool can be
helpful in course selection.

The College of Business Administration divides its course requirements into groups
called modules. There are nine modules numbered from 0 to 8.
Top of Page
This module has three requirements: BSAD 150, BSAD 101, and BSAD 098.
BSAD 150 is a one hour course covering portions of Microsoft Office. The one hour
does not count towards the hours for your degree. This course is a pre-requisite
for ECON 215 and Module 4 courses. The current requirements for this
course and the methods by which it can be completed, including a test out option
found here.
BSAD 101 is a freshman leadership course that provides students with an overview
of academic requirements, majors, resources, and activities.
BSAD 098 is a graduating senior assessment utilizing Blackboard.
Module 0 - Advising Tip
These courses should be taken in your freshman year or as soon as possible.

Policies & Procedures
Three hours each are required except for Area C, which requires six hours.
Consult the tables following page 399 of the Bulletin or use the ES Advising
Tool for selection of courses.
The table in the Bulletin has dots in the left hand column. These indicate
courses that are both ES and IS. You can complete two requirements with one course!
In the right hand portion there are columns of letters the column with the Bs indicates
courses that can be used by students in the College of Business. When using the
ES Tool the Left hand column contains the letters IS when the courses will count
for both the ES and IS requirement. When you first use the ES Tool you will need
to select Business Administration in Step 1.
Actuarial Science (ACTS) - Please consult the Bulletin or the advising staff. Actuarial
Science has a number of specific requirements in Modules 1 & 2.
ABUS - Take BIOL 101 with lab for Area D.
Module 1 - Advising Tip
FRESHMEN....
In planning your schedule, you should complete BSAD 101, ENGLISH, MATH (104
or 106), Business Administration 150, and JGEN 220 (which used to be JGEN 120) before
you begin your 200 level business courses. If you have not completed
these courses, you need to work them into your schedule for summer and/or fall semester.
You will need 27 hours completed in order to enroll in Module 3 (Accounting and
Economics principles and statistics) so plan your enrollment such that you will
be eligible for sophomore level courses. Other courses to consider beyond the priority
classes noted above would be your Essential Studies areas that still appear as minus
signs (-) on your DARS, which you can now access online through WAM.
With the exception of Areas A & B, these courses only need to be completed before
graduation.
Students will take most of their Essential Studies (Modules 1 & 2) during their
first two years at the university.
ES courses are a good place to start a minor that is in a non-business subject.
Look for courses that will also fulfill IS course requirements.
Graded Courses
All courses in Module 1 MUST BE TAKEN for a grade (no P/N option available).
Undergraduate Bulletin
Refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin at approximately page 399 and page

Module 3 - Advising Tip
Module 3 is generally taken during the sophomore year.
Normally, students will take Acct 201 and Econ 211 one semester; and follow with
Acct 202 and Econ 212 the next semester.
Economics 215 has a prerequisite of MATH 104 (or 106) AND BSAD 150 (in addition
to the 2.5 GPA and 27 hrs completed). This course should be scheduled (first or
second semester of sophomore year) when all prerequisites have been completed.
Students will usually fill the rest of their schedule with remaining work from Module
1 and/or 2 during the sophomore year - particularly COMM 311 and JGEN 220 (from
Module 2).
Graded Courses
All courses in Module 3 MUST BE TAKEN for a grade (no P/N option available)

Management 475, Business Policies and Strategies, is CBA's capstone course, requiring
the other Module 4 classes as prerequisites except Bus. Law. It will be taken during
your senior year. Preference is given to graduating seniors. If it is not your last
semester, you may be dropped from the class.
Module 4 - Advising Tip
Module 4 is taken during the junior and senior years.
These courses may be taken in any order, with the exception of MNGT 475. Typically,
students will take the classes in Module 4 that relate to their major first.
If unsure of your major, take MRKT 341, FINA 361 and one of the management courses
first; then follow with the others.
MNGT 331, 350, 360 can be taken together or mixed over two or three semesters.
MNGT 475 is normally taken during your last semester.
Students will usually fill the rest of their schedule with remaining work from Module
1 and/or 2. Once they have completed the introductory prerequisite course for their
major, students may begin Module 5 courses.
Graded Courses
All courses in Module 4 MUST BE TAKEN for a grade (no P/N option available).
Undergraduate Bulletin

Completed during Modules 5, 6, or 8.
There is no IBCR requirement for accounting majors. International subjects are integrated
into their other courses.
Some courses listed in DARS are available only while studying abroad.
Business courses taken abroad are not necessarily international business courses
for the purpose of this requirement.
Many will take an international course in their major to fulfill both the IBCR requirement
and a requirement for the major.

LOOK FOR SPECIFIC DEGREE REQUIREMENTS IN EACH MAJOR.
Module 5 - Advising Tip
Module 5 is generally taken during the junior and senior year.
The order in which these courses are taken depends on the course prerequisite. Identify
requirements and options and plan accordingly.
MOST students will take one or two classes in their major, along with any remaining
course work from Module 4 and fill the rest of their schedule with electives and
other requirements they have yet to complete.
DARS occasionally has difficulty with keeping track of double majors. Please let
the advising office know if any courses are in the wrong major.
Graded Courses
All courses in Module 5 MUST BE TAKEN for a grade (no P/N option available).
Undergraduate Bulletin
Refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin for additional information regarding
Module 5.

Policies & Procedures
The College requires each student complete six hours of business elective credit.
These six hours must be selected from course work offered by the departments of
ACCT, ECON, BSAD, FINA, MNGT, and MRKT. Course work already completed or required
for Modules 3, 4, or 5 cannot be reused to count as business elective credit.
Module 6 - Advising Tip
These courses are of the student's choosing and can even be from the 100 and 200
level business classes. Most students will complete their international requirement
here (IBCR), if it hasn't already been completed as part of the major in Module
5. Students may elect to work on a business minor using these hours, or they may
take other courses to further complement their major. Finally, some students pursuing
a 399 option to complement an internship experience use these hours to fulfill Module
6.
ACTS majors fulfill this requirement with other hours required for the major.
Graded Courses
All courses in Module 6 must be taken for a grade. The only exception is if the
class is only offered P/N, such as 399 courses.
Undergraduate Bulletin
Refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin for additional information regarding
Module 6.
Top of Page
Policies & Procedures
The College requires that a minimum of 7 hours of Non-Business Electives be taken
as part of the curriculum. Any courses offered by the University as degree-applicable
credit can be taken to fulfill Module 7, as long as it is not a "BUSINESS" class
or a previously completed course.
Module 7 - Advising Tip
ACTS majors fulfill Module 7 with STAT 462 and STAT 463.
Module 7 is a great place to finish Integrative Studies (IS) courses; or complete
requirements for a non-business minor.
If only one or two hours are needed, consider taking one-hour courses through Campus
Recreation. Look for these courses in the Schedule of Classes under COMB, FITN,
INDV, and ODED.
For general advice, take classes that you will enjoy, not classes that are supposed
to be easy.
Graded Courses
Courses in Module 7 can be taken as Pass/ No Pass.
Students can only take a total of 9 hours of P/N course work towards a degree in
Business Administration.
Undergraduate Bulletin
Refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin for additional information regarding
Module 7.
Top of Page
Module 8 - Electives (hours vary)
Policies & Procedures
The number of hours required to graduate is 120. Add the hours in Modules 1 thru
7 and subtract this number from 120. In most instances ACTS and AGRI do not have
any hours in Module 8, MRKT has 13 hours; and all of the other CBA majors have 10
hours
Module 8 - Advising Tip
ACTS and AGBU majors fulfill these hours through other required hours.
If needed, this is a great place to complete your Integrative Studies (IS) courses
or hours toward a minor.
If you need one or two hours in Module 7 and you take a three hour course &
your remaining hours will be shared with any needed hours in Module 8.
If only one or two hours are needed, consider one-hour courses through Campus Recreation
Look for these courses in the Schedule of Classes under the headings COMB, FITN,
INDV, and ODED.
For general advice, take classes that you will enjoy, not classes that are supposed
to be easy.
Graded Courses
Courses in Module 8 can be taken as Pass/ No Pass.
Students can only take a total of 9 hours of P/N course work towards a degree in
Business Administration.
Undergraduate Bulletin
Refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin for additional information regarding
Module 8.

Most students should not have hours in this area of their DARS. Courses listed here
are not necessarily excess. This section indicates that your total hours are above
120. If you have a second major or several minors, the additional hours may also
be posted in this section.
