Bureau of Business Research Offers Unique Opportunities for Student Research
CBA's Bureau of Business Research (BBR) offers students a chance to show their initiative when it comes to tackling major research projects. Dr. Eric Thompson, Director of the BBR, believes the Bureau is also one of Nebraska's key resources when it comes to understanding our economy.

BBR Roads Study Featured in Omaha World-Herald
The Bureau of Business Research was featured in an Omaha World-Herald article for a new study looking at how large road projects impact big cities. Dr. Eric Thompson, director of the BBR, presented the results to the State Highway Commission on December 16.

Business Ethics are Focus for CBA Students
The Business Ethics program at the UNL College of Business Administration is ranked as the third strongest program in the Big Ten conference by Businessweek. The program is integrated into over 90 percent of business classes and visiting speakers are a large component of the program.

Fischer and Davidson Present Seminar at University of Texas-Arlington
Dr. Tammie Fischer and Jennifer Davidson, M.Ed., represented the UNL College of Business Center for Economic Education and presented a seminar at the University of Texas-Arlington last month. The topic of the seminar was "Change and Continuity of Economic Systems and Processes."

Economics Faculty Members Honored with Phil Saunders Award for Best Research Paper
Economics faculty members Drs. Roger Butters, Carlos Asarta and Eric Thompson were recognized with the Phil Saunders Award for Best Research Paper at the 2011 National Association of Economic Educators annual meeting. The award recognizes the paper that best contributes to research in economic education.

Dr. Eric Thompson Talks About Medici Effect on KLKN Radio
Dr. Eric Thompson, Director of the College of Business Administration Bureau of Business Research, recently was a guest on Lincoln KLKN radio's "Grow Lincoln" radio show. He talked about the Medici effect which looks at how all citizens in a community can come together to create a strong economy.

A recent economic seminar spotlighting the influence of athletics in higher education was presented by Dr. John Siegfried of Vanderbilt University. The seminar was hosted by the College of Business Administration Department of Economics and can be viewed online.

Economics Graduate Student Trevor Nelson Noted for Work on Green Jobs Report
Economics graduate student Trevor Nelson recently helped complete a research project and was acknowledged by Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman for work he did on the “Green Jobs Report.” Nelson, who was working for the Department of Labor, also got the chance to work alongside members of the UNL College of Business Administration Bureau of Business Research.

Business Students Crowned King and Queen of Homecoming
CBA senior Emily Koopmann of Raymond, and Skip Hecox of Gothenburg, were crowned king and queen Oct. 8 at the UNL Homecoming celebration. Koopmann is a marketing and economics major and Hecox is an agribusiness major (CASNR).
