Economics Programs

The UNL College of Business Economics department offers Undergraduate degrees as well as Graduate degrees at both the Masters and Ph.D. levels. In addition, to these offerings there is also a Masters of Education with a Focus in Economic Education designed to help teachers enhance their knowledge of basic economics concepts adn demonstrate how economics can be taught in the K-12 classroom.

The Master of Arts degree in Economics can be pursued along one of three tracks.

  • Option I is a 30-credit hour degree program that requires a thesis.
  • Option II is a 36-credit hour terminal degree program (not intended to lead into the Ph.D. program) with flexible requirements.
  • Option III is a 36-credit hour program intended to prepare students for the Ph.D. program.

The degree can ordinarily be earned in four semesters of full-time course work.

Our Ph.D. program is notable for its blend of advanced economic theory and applied policy analysis, provided in the context of a small graduate program with emphasis on quality teaching that assures close association with fellow students and professors.
