CBA Professors Examine Value of CEO Compensation Packages
Dr. Sam Allgood, Edwin J. Faulkner Professor of Economics, and Dr. Kathleen Farrell, senior associate dean and professor of finance at CBA recently published a research article in the Journal of Corporate Finance that examined compensation packages for more than 1,400 CEOs over a 14-year period.

Dr. Yijia Lin Promoted, Granted Tenure
Dr. Yijia Lin was promoted to associate professor and granted tenure. She was one of the 75 UNL faculty members receiving promotion and/or tenure in 2013 and was honored at a UNL reception at the International Quilt Study Center and Museum on April 23.

Business Students Graduate as Part of Second Largest UNL Class
More than 2,750 students received their diplomas May 3 and 4 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This is the second largest class in the history of UNL.

Beta Alpha Psi Students Compete in Best Practice Competition and Advance to Nationals
Fourteen students from CBA presented in the Best Practice Competition at the regional meeting of Beta Alpha Psi on April 6. The competition, which was held in Kansas City, Kan., had three presentation categories including innovation, inspiration and imagination.

The 2013 Faculty Awards Reception for the College of Business Administration was held, Thursday, April 25 at the Van Brunt Visitors Center. Dr. Donde Plowman, the James, Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean of CBA, presented the awards to the thirteen award recipients.

Over 70 Percent of CBA Students Sign Ethics Code
More than 70 percent of undergraduate students currently enrolled at the UNL College of Business Administration have given their signature of support to the CBA ethics code. The student-written ethics code and belief statement were launched at the State Farm Ethics Day Lecture last year.

Francisco Gomez Interns in Washington D.C.
Francisco Gomez competed against more than 800 applicants to become one of 40 students working at Capitol Hill this summer in Washington, D.C. A finance and international business senior at CBA, he received an eight-week internship offered by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute.

MBA students from CBA took home the first place trophy in the second annual ACG Nebraska Cup competition. The ACG Cup is an intercollegiate case study competition designed to give students invaluable insights into a variety of areas of business and finance.

Actuarial Science Program Renewed as Center of Actuarial Excellence
The UNL Actuarial Science program has been renewed as a Center of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) by the Society of Actuaries’ Centers of Actuarial Excellence Evaluation Committee. The designation is given to programs that excel in eight criteria of qualitative and quantitative categories.
