Our part-time employees must be currently enrolled UNL students. Wages and schedules are negotiable. Must work a minimum of 12 hours/week in 3-hour blocks of time.

Help Desk Technician

ITS Help Desk Technicians deliver much of the frontline user support offered, whether it be for computer hardware or software, multi-media equipment, classroom technology, or other IT services ranging from user support to programming. Technicians must be knowledgeable in a broad, constantly evolving assortment of policies, procedures, and technologies, and must have the maturity and reliability to provide user support accurately and consistently.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide accurate guidance and assistance in the operation of all hardware, software, media, multimedia, and other equipment and technology supported by ITS, and resolve problems or escalate as necessary.
  • Proactively respond to walk-in and telephone inquiries by providing accurate answers and solutions to common questions and problems, and escalating all other issues as appropriate to help ensure a prompt and positive resolution for the end user.
  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting functions in ITS computer labs and classrooms to ensure clean, productive working environments, and to resolve problems, or escalate as appropriate.
  • Closely follow timelines, checklists, and other reminders to ensure routine tasks are properly and consistently completed.
  • Enforce policies in ITS computer labs and classrooms.
  • Maintain clean working spaces in all ITS computer labs and classrooms, as well as in the User Services and storage areas of the ITS department.
  • Participate in team projects that enhance the quality and efficiency of ITS.
  • Continually build and improve job-related skills and knowledge, especially during on-the-job downtime.

Technical Services Application

Instructional Technology Technician

CBA Information Technology Services is currently seeking a highly motivated, customer service oriented student employee to assist with online course development. Responsibilities include assisting faculty with Blackboard course development including multimedia aspects; Blackboard support; proctoring exams; audio/video production; assessment data analysis; and other duties as necessary. Successful candidate will have intermediate to proficient skills in Blackboard, HTML, Dreamweaver, video editing software, video editing equipment and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of SAS or SPSS is desirable. Join our team and work on exciting and challenging projects within a culture based on respect and collaboration. Applicants must be currently enrolled UNL students taking at least 1 credit hour. Schedule flexible 5-12 hours a week. Wage is negotiable based on experience. Web HTML Developer

Tasks for our HTML developers range in size and complexity from content changes to large redesign work. Any experience in ASP/PHP, MS IIS 5.0, Microsoft Visual Studio Interdev, Flash, Actionscript, Javascript or MS SQL/Oracle database a plus but not required. Problem solving skills, learning new techniques and interacting with clients are daily events.

  • Developing Web pages in HTML based on the functional requirements delivered in the architect phase
  • Working closely with project team in the design of clients' sites and applications
  • Evaluating and understanding specifications and then translating the scope of work into estimated delivery times
  • Maintaining and improving performance of existing code base
  • Working within code and or style standards
  • Evaluating and integrating third party products into project
  • Performing unit testing
  • Learning and applying new software and technology
  • Timely completion of all deliverables
  • Proactively engaging in the evolution of new architectures

Projects for our application developers range in size and complexity from one page form handling to large, multi-user applications. HTML, ASP/PHP & MS SQL/Oracle database experience required; MS IIS 5.0, Microsoft Visual Studio Interdev, Flash, Actionscript, Javascript preferred.

Exam Proctor

The College of Business Administration is seeking a highly reliable, customer service oriented Exam Proctor. Work as an individual and as part of a team in a very pleasant environment assisting the Coordinator with scheduling, administering, and proctoring exams, including on-line exams. Exam Proctors are expected to maintain the utmost respect for confidentiality and to perform duties in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Exam Proctors are expected to be reliable and organized with excellent attention for details. A functional knowledge of computers, including hardware/software trouble-shooting, is required. Applicants must be currently enrolled UNL students taking at least 1 credit hour. Wage starts at $7.00 per hour. 15-20 hours per week in 3.5 hour blocks. A criminal history background check required.

Marketing Assistant

The College of Business Administration is seeking a highly reliable Marketing Assistant. Assist the Communications Director with creating promotional materials including flyers, posters and digital displays. Work closely with IT staff on website design and digital display operations. Strong computer skills required. Planning of special events including developing strategies for invitations, activities and event implementation. Develops and edits content for email notices, news releases and event invitations. Ideal candidate will be a self-starter, with a desire to increase knowledge in direct marketing and related fields. Candidate must be team focused and demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with clients. Applicants must be currently enrolled UNL students taking at least 1 credit hour.
