Enhanced Digital Signage Comes to CBA
The College of Business is now phasing in enhanced digital signage throughout the building.
In addition to providing live news and financial programming the College is also looking to
diseminate up to date information on current CBA events and schedules. Initially staff members
can submit events through the Service Request system to promote their events. In addition to
the plasma screens that have been located in the Atrium area and at the ITS Help Desk, we also
have added digital screens in the Coe Learning Center and the Writing Center. We also are phasing in many
touch screen monitors in places such as Undergraduate Advising and our new Corporate Relations
office in CBA 119. Over the next two years look for increased digital signage throughout the
building which will provide faster and easier access for promoting relevant news to students,
faculty, and staff.
Active Desktop on Student Computers
CBA ITS has implemented Active Desktop on student computers throughout the College
to help provide students easier access to find jobs and join CBA related groups on Facebook and LinkedIn.
Students will also have better access to current news regarding technology resources and procedures.

Coe Learning Center and Writing Lab Redesign
Our new, enhanced Coe Learning Center now includes laptop lounge chairs, a conference room,
coffee vending and a more spacious and aesthetically pleasing layout. In addition,
the new lab has been upgraded with 38 new Dell OptiPlex 760 PCs and two Apple iMacs.
ITS strives to give technological convenience to students which is why we will also
offer software to students for laptop printing in the Coe Learning Center, application streaming,
and additional computers for use in rooms 12, 14, and 33/38 during certain hours.
The Writing Lab enhancements include a new layout to encourage group collaboration,
new paint, and Dell OptiPlex 760 PCs.

Classroom 143 and 25 Renovations
CBA 143 and 25 have been renovated by UNL Facilities to give the rooms a fresh new
look. Both rooms have been repainted, have new carpet, and the student seating has
all been reupholstered.
Both rooms will feature brand new technology installed by the UNL Instructional
Technology Group. The rooms have been upgraded to a dual projector system, allowing
two different PowerPoint presentations to be displayed at the same time. Other new
features include a DVD/VHS combo unit, new wireless microphone system, and a new
AMX touchpanel control system.
Live@edu Update
New and current students can now sign up for their Live@edu account. Simply visit
http://huskers.unl.edu to request your account.
Signing up for Bigred email accounts has been discontinued, but current Bigred users
can continue to use the Bigred system until February 2009. Bigred can be set to
forward all new mail to your new @huskers.unl.edu address, and future tools
will be available to migrate all of your old email and folders to the new system.
BSAD 101 Enhancements
BSAD 101 is a class for all incoming freshman CBA students. During the fall semesters,
the class is so large, it occupies Room 143 and Room 104 (shown left) simultaneously.
Part of the renovation in Room 143 includes an improved method to transmit the speaker
presenting in Room 143 into Room 104. Audio and video lines have been installed
across the hallway, and a new LCD HDTV screen has been installed in 104. This will
allow the students in 104 to see the PowerPoint being shown in 143 on the projector,
as well as see and hear the speaker via the LCD HDTV.
Coe Center Printing Upgrade
New Dell printers are being installed in the Coe Center to improve student printing.
The two printers will share the load being placed on the current single Kyocera
printer. This will not only double printing speed, but will add redundancy as well.
If one printer fails, the other will take over the full load until it is repaired,
making the printing service much more reliable.
Additionally, students can now load money onto their Uniprint accounts themselves
by visiting http://uniprint.unl.edu and clicking
"Add Funds". UNL has discontinued the Ncard swipe option that we previously offered
at the ITS Help Desk in favor of the new web-based solution.
