Three students from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business presented at the 2018 Deterrence and Assurance Academic Alliance (DAAA) Conference. Utilizing their business insight, they discussed an uncommon topic for business majors – nuclear deterrence. The conference was hosted by the university's Department of Political Science and the College of Law Space, Cyber and Telecommunication Law Program, March 15-16.

The actuarial science program at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln held its inaugural Actuarial Science Case Competition on February 3, in Howard L. Hawks Hall. The one-day event gave students the opportunity to learn about the work actuaries do by applying their knowledge calculating risk to recommend pricing on cell phone warranties. Open to students of all levels who are interested in actuarial science, a total of 38 students split into eight teams competing to solve an actuarial problem in the entry-level case study developed by the Casualty Actuarial Society.

Four University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business students strengthened their skills at the U.S. Naval Academy Leadership Conference in Annapolis, Maryland. The students joined more than 300 people from 45 military and civilian colleges spending four days learning about leading and persevering through obstacles during sessions led by prominent military, government and industry leaders.

Students found success during their first semester in Howard L. Hawks Hall. More than 1,000 business students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln were named to the Nebraska Business Dean’s List for the 2017 fall semester. The 929 undergraduate students who earned this recognition upheld a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6 or higher for the semester. The College of Business also honored 237 undergraduate students for attaining a 4.0 GPA.

After serving as the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business interim dean for nearly a year, Dr. Kathy Farrell became the 10th dean of the College of Business in December. In her relatively short time leading the college, Farrell has immersed herself in the job. The college’s Communications, Marketing and External Relations (CMER) team recently checked in with her to learn more about her and her thoughts on her new role and the future of the college.
