Students found success during their first semester in Howard L. Hawks Hall. More than 1,000 business students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln were named to the Nebraska Business Dean’s List for the 2017 fall semester. The 929 undergraduate students who earned this recognition upheld a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6 or higher for the semester. The College of Business also honored 237 undergraduate students for attaining a 4.0 GPA.

The new College of Business Huskers Shop opened its doors in Howard L. Hawks Hall and in doing so, started one of the most innovative business learning programs in the country. A joint effort with Nebraska Athletics, the College of Business and Fanatics, the Huskers Shop also includes a faculty advisor, a six-member student management board, students who work in the store and merchandise ranging from shirts and hats to the new plastic bags required in all Huskers athletic facilities to pom poms and fidget spinners. Though there are other stores on college campuses run by students, what makes the Huskers Shop stand out – besides the high-level partners involved – is that Fanatics also provides the business retail and financial data for professors and students to use and analyze in various business courses.

Beginning in the fall of 2017, BSAD 150, Business Computer Applications will change to BSAD 50, and the Business Analytics/Information Analysis (SCMA 350) course will include an additional one-credit hour lab, SCMA 350L. BSAD 50 will provide more flexibility for students to complete the requirement in an online format, and SCMA 350/350L was updated to ensure students are best prepared for the demands of the business environment.

The 901 undergraduates who received this honor maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6 or higher for the semester. The college also recognized 222 undergraduate students for achieving a 4.0 GPA. Twenty-one master of business administration students qualified for the Dean’s List with a 4.0 GPA and nine or more credit hours for the semester, and 58 students with a 4.0 GPA and six or more credit hours made the Honor Roll.

The annual financial case study competition pits competing teams from UNL, UNO, Creighton University and Bellevue University.
