Business students listened and asked questions of four prominent business leaders, all with strong ties to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business at the spring Executive Insights held at Howard L. Hawks Hall on April 12. The event, hosted by the School of Accountancy and Department of Finance, provided leadership perspectives from Shawntell Kroese ’96, vice president of Loup, a Union Pacific logistics company; Allan Noddle ’62, former CEO of Ahold USA Support Services; Nancy Paasch ’06, chief administration officer at Sandhills Publishing; and Bryan Slone, president of the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and former assistant professor of practice of accounting at Nebraska Business.

Nebraska Business students from around the world utilized cross-cultural skills in the inaugural Nebraska Export Challenge as they competed in teams to make business presentations based on exporting products abroad. Dr. Kalu Osiri, director of the international business program and associate professor of practice of management, envisioned the competition with a goal on getting students to interact with peers from other countries.

Three students from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business presented at the 2018 Deterrence and Assurance Academic Alliance (DAAA) Conference. Students found success during their first semester in Howard L. Hawks Hall. More than 1,000 business students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln were named to the Nebraska Business Dean’s List for the 2017 fall semester. The 929 undergraduate students who earned this recognition upheld a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6 or higher for the semester. The College of Business also honored 237 undergraduate students for attaining a 4.0 GPA.

After serving as the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business interim dean for nearly a year, Dr. Kathy Farrell became the 10th dean of the College of Business in December. In her relatively short time leading the college, Farrell has immersed herself in the job. The college’s Communications, Marketing and External Relations (CMER) team recently checked in with her to learn more about her and her thoughts on her new role and the future of the college.
