Career Readiness Program Accepting Applications from International Students
Career Services at the College of Business Administration is accepting applications for the International Student Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) Program for the spring 2016 semester. The CRC program is a 10-week intensive career preparation program to help CBA international students discover and develop skills necessary to be successful in the U.S. job market. Upon completion of the program, students receive a Career Readiness Certificate from Career Services at CBA.

Any CBA international sophomores or juniors, CBA international students hoping to find an internship or full-time job in the U.S. or CBA international students who are struggling to get connected to campus and community resources are encouraged to apply to the program.

“The CRC program offers a huge advantage to international students,” said Jayde McWilliams, graduate assistant in Career Services at CBA. “They have an opportunity to enrich their knowledge from our Professional Enhancement Program courses where they learn the basics of writing a résumé and cover letter and they can ask important questions about finding a career in the U.S.”

Students selected for the program will take part in career development workshops as a group, as well as one-on-one career coaching and interactions with an American conversation partner. Career coaches and guest speakers will help students develop the skills necessary for the college-to-job transition. The program also provides insight on immigration rules and regulations and connects students with successful alumni and other students on campus.

“This program is incredibly beneficial for CBA’s international students and I encourage everyone apply,” said McWilliams.

Any student interested in learning more about the program is invited to an information session on Friday, January 22 at 3:30 p.m. in CBA 222. Students will learn more about the program and the application, which includes a short answer question that can be answered by essay or two-minute video.

CRC career development workshops will be held on Fridays from 3:30 to 5 p.m., beginning on February 19. Students must be available to attend at least 7 of the 8 workshops.

Visit the CRC webpage to download the application or contact Jayde McWilliams at cba-jmcwilliams@unl.edu, 402-472-7679, for more information. Applications are due by 12 p.m. on Friday, January 29.
