The Nebraska Economic Council was recently featured in an Omaha World-Herald article for teaching core principles of the stock market and economics to high school students. The Stock Market Game allows students to earn virtual cash to attempt to create a successful portfolio.
Making the Stock Market Game available to students provides an educational component and activity that would otherwise not exist in most Nebraska area high schools.
“At a small school, it's hard to put something together at a low cost that can recognize academic excellence,” said council president and UNL College Business Administration faculty member Roger Butters. “This is something they can do.”
The top student groups in the state will make presentations to business leaders later in the spring with the winners awarded trophies and cash prizes.
