The Fifth Annual Women in Business Benefit displayed a variety of successful
companies in the Lincoln surrounding areas, and most were started by women
entrepreneurs. This display encouraged unity among students, professionals,
and local communities, which strengthens women’s roles in the business world.
The Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship, partnering with UNL Students in
Free Enterprise raised money for the YWCA's nonprofit organization, Job
Outfitter’s Dress for Success. Since its formation in 1996, Dress for Success
has been helping women enter the workforce and stay employed in over 60 U.S.
cities.
In addition to providing a respectable donation to a charity centered on women's
needs, a $500 scholarship through Werner Enterprises was awarded to Misam Ali, a
UNL student with remarkable academic achievements.
Our goal next year is to continually improve by enhancing networking opportunities.
