CBA Parents Newsletter - January 2017

Happy New Year! I wanted to personally reach out and introduce myself. As some of you may have read, I was appointed by Chancellor Ronnie Green to interim dean of the College of Business Administration effective January 3, 2017. This appointment followed the transition of former Dean Donde Plowman to executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Kathy Farrell
I am thrilled to have this opportunity to lead CBA into the next phase of our transformation into a world-class business college. I view my role as one of continuing the pursuit of excellence in everything we do. Having served both as associate dean for the first four years of Donde’s tenure and most recently as the chair of the Department of Finance, I have been involved in the process of creating the momentum that has set the college’s current trajectory. My time at Nebraska also includes more than 20 years in the classroom working with students and watching them transition into amazing leaders.

Just as important, I am a mom of three active kids. We have a son who is in his junior year at Nebraska in the CBA Honors Academy. Our daughter is in her first year away from home at school in North Carolina. We also have another son anxious to join the college ranks in a few more years but currently keeping us busy with many activities. We do a lot of balancing and listening in our home so I can relate to conversations, questions and concerns you may have regarding your student’s academic journey. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me as the doors of CBA communication are open and I welcome your messages.

I look forward to sharing more with you as we continue through the semester. Now that we have kicked off the spring semester, I hope you are ready to Start Something with me.
