I know you are looking forward to being with your family for this Thanksgiving holiday and am certain your UNL student is eager to get some down time and to catch up with family and friends.
This has been an amazing fall and I want you to know how thankful I am that your son or daughter is part of our community. We are working hard to help them have a rewarding experience. There are plenty of ups and downs during the first semester away at school and the support and encouragement you give your college student means so much to them. When I ask freshmen what is the most important thing you want your parents to do, they say “stay in touch me.” When I ask them, what is the one thing you wish your parents would NOT do, they say, “call me every day.” So, it’s a real dilemma figuring out what is the right amount of staying connected, but who ever said parenting was easy? I am guessing by now you have figured out the best way to stay in touch with your son or daughter.
Thanks for all you do from home to support your CBA student. As they return from Thanksgiving and prepare for the end of the semester, I’m sure they each have much to do and the stress may seem high. Just keep encouraging them to work hard and stay positive.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
