Over one hundred refereed journal articles in journals such as Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, Decision Sciences Journal, Communications of the ACM, International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management, International Journal of Production Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information & Management, and International Journal of Production Economics. He has authored or co-authored 18 books including: Topics in Lean Supply Chain Management and Information Technology Investment: Decision Making Methodology both published in 2010.
External to the university Professor Schniederjans was elected by his peers as a Fellow in the Decision Sciences Institute. He has won the University of Nebraska Recognition Award for Contributions to Students and the College of Business Distinguished Teaching and Distance Teaching awards multiple times.
Professor Schniederjans joined the faculty in 1981. He completed his MBA and PhD degrees at Saint Louis University. Prior to coming to UNL he taught at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, University of Missouri at St. Louis and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. His prior experience includes serving in administrative positions as the Director of Undergraduate Programs at Saint Louis University and the Chairman of Business/Economics Department at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He also owned and operated his own truck leasing business. Professor Schniederjans teaches classes in operations management, decision sciences and information systems. He also teaches in the College's partnership MBA programs at Offutt Air Force Base, CBA’s MBA Distance Education program and in the Continuing Independent Studies undergraduate program. Professor Schniederjans has served as a consultant and trainer to wide variety of business and government agencies. He has served as an advisor to numerous firms ranging in size from small business organizations to international conglomerates. He has also served as technical expert to government organizations ranging in size from a small U.S. city to a foreign nation-wide public utility corporation.
Editorial Positions
Professor Schniederjans is currently serving as an Area Editor to the Operations Management Research journal, and as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of the Society Systems Science and Management Review: An International Journal (Korea). He is also currently serving on the advisory boards to Computers and Operations Research and International Journal of Doctoral Studies. In addition he is currently serving on the review boards of the following journals: Production and Operations Management Journal, Quality Management Journal, International Journal of Information Systems in the Service Sector, International Journal of Workplace Management, Journal of Managerial Issues, and International Journal of Information & Decision Sciences.
