Dr. Theresa M. Welbourne is the FirstTier Banks Distinguished Professor of Business and Director of the Center of Entrepreneurship at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She also is the founder, president, and CEO of eePulse, Inc. (, a human capital technology and consulting firm. With over 30 years in HRM, Dr. Welbourne’s expertise is in the area of HR and strategic leadership in high growth and high change organizations. After working in professional and consulting roles in HRM, she went on to receive her PhD from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1992 and then was a full-time professor with Cornell’s ILR School and the University of Michigan Business School. Dr. Welbourne’s research and work have been featured in popular publications such as Inc. Magazine, Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Business Week, New York Times, and Entrepreneur Magazine and published in books and in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Human Resource Planning, Journal of Organization Behavior, Journal of Applied Psychology, Leader to Leader, Organization Dynamics and Group and Organization Management. Theresa is the Editor-in-Chief of Human Resource Management, the Journal, and author of the Leadership Pulse™ initiative, which is the first real-time data and dialogue learning opportunity for leaders ( for more information). Theresa is a prolific writer, well known speaker, and she focuses on turning rigorous research into practical tools that are being used by organizations around the world. In addition, she has an appointment with the Center for Effective Organizations, Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.
