Business Ethics Program Receives Boost from State Farm Insurance
State Farm Insurance gave a $15,000 grant to the CBA Business Ethics Program. The grant will help publish a business ethics booklet and create a code of ethics reference card for students. State Farm will also sponsor an ethics lecture in the fall.

The Business Ethics program at the UNL College of Business Administration is ranked as the third strongest program in the Big Ten conference by Businessweek. The program is integrated into over 90 percent of business classes and visiting speakers are a large component of the program.

College of Business Administration accountancy students who take the Fraud Examination class are learning exactly what it takes to prevent fraud. Dr. Janice Lawrence is helping students take on real world fraud risk assessment reviews of local non-profits that benefit both the community and the students.

The College of Business Administration recently hosted a panel of prominent whistleblowers through the efforts of Dr. Janice Lawrence and the Business Ethics program. The panelists included Gary Aguirre, a former prosecutor for the SEC, who spent years of his life fighting corruption in the agency.

Championing Business Ethics at the UNL College of Business
When students enroll in a course at the UNL College of Business they are usually signing up for an Ethics course whether they are aware of it or not. That is because ethics issues reach into over 90% of the courses currently being taught at the College. Janice Lawrence a professor at the School of Accountancy has been leading the efforts to integrate Ethics into the student experience for over ten years.

The Program in Business Ethics supports the integration of ethics throughout the curriculum and the discussion of ethical issues among students, faculty and the business community.

Upcoming Events

Students can now endorse the new CBA Business Ethics Code Signature Scroll.

The launch of the new student initiated CBA business ethics code will take place February 14 at the UNL Lied Center for Performing Arts. In conjunction with the event, guest speaker Diann Cattani will present her personal business ethics story to students.
