The paper discusses ways to integrate data mining into traditional business courses. The proposed approach is designed for a short format of 2-4 classes, and stresses practical illustration of data mining techniques. Special attention is paid to selection of data mining methods used for illustration purpose. We formulate a set of criteria (model transparency, widespread use in real practice, ease of application, and software availability) for such selection and select methods satisfying these requirements. A small and easily calculated example designed for classroom use is described and used for all methods.
