John Anderson, associate dean, professor of economics, and an expert in public finance, served a term on the President's Council of Economic Advisers and was responsible for Chapter 5 in the 2006 Economic Report of the President. Anderson now serves as Associate Dean for the College. In 2006, he received the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award from the College of Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University.
